Mission Statement

Perry County Counseling Center’s mission is to assist the people we serve to increase their life satisfaction by providing programs and services that support recovery from behavioral health, substance use, illness, homelessness, or other significant life events through access to evidence-based treatment, community resources, and a supportive environment so that they may continue on the journey toward the life they want for themselves.

Perry County Counseling Center operates with a person-centered philosophy. What does this mean for employees and the person served?

The person-centered philosophy in behavioral health is an approach that puts the individual at the center of care by providing services and support that are tailored to their needs, preferences, and recovery goals. This approach allows patients to make informed decisions about their care and well-being.

Here are some critical aspects of the person-centered philosophy in behavioral health:

  • Patient-centered

Persons served are considered the experts in their own lives and are involved in the decisions that affect them.

  • Collaborative

Our care providers work with the persons served and other providers to develop respectful and empathetic individual treatment plans.

  • Person-driven

Planning is based on what the person-served needs to live the life they want, rather than professional opinion or limited service options.

  • Individualized

Individuals are treated as unique individuals with potential and gifts to share.

  • Language

Providers use healing and respectful language, as words can alter a person’s mood, self-perception, and well-being.
